Itinerant services are designed to maintain students with organizational, emotional or behavioral disabilities within the framework of regular education classroom programs. The itinerant programs offer consultation to teachers, direct services to the student, and coordination of information between the student, the parents and school personnel. These programs represent the least restrictive environment placement for students. Students enrolled in an itinerant service program typically are seen in one-to-one or small group sessions on a regularly scheduled basis, usually one to three times per week based on the student's age, needs and their regular education academic schedule. The primary goal of the itinerant program is to establish an intervention system that offers the students an opportunity to remain totally in their regular education program while receiving any required special education support.

Itinerant services are designed to support students to complete the work required in the academic setting.  The itinerant program is a supportive learning environment designed to meet the needs of students who benefit from additional instructional or organizational support.  This program promotes a cooperative instructional partnership between general education teachers, special education teachers and students.   These programs support students so they can maintain the least restrictive environment placement for students. Students enrolled in an itinerant service program typically are seen in small group sessions on a regularly scheduled basis, usually one to three times per week based on the student's age, needs and their regular education academic schedule. The primary goal of the itinerant program is to help students establish work and self-advocacy skills to become independent learners who can request support when needed.

The School Counselor: 
(Matthews Middle School, Wauconda Middle School, Wauconda High School)

The students may be referred to the school counselor either by themselves, the students’ parents, or by the staff.  The counselor may refer a student to the school social worker of school psychologist when necessary. 

The School Social Worker:
(Staff are available at all schools)

The students may be referred to the school social worker by the WSAT team, the students’ parents, or by the school staff. 

The School Psychologist
(Staff are available at all schools)
