Learning at Home and Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) (March 30-May 21, 2020)


Important Information
  • Inquiries to retrieve critical personal belongings from school such as student medications from the nurse’s office, a district-issued Chromebook or band instrument should be made to the school principal.

  • Free “Grab-and-Go” breakfast/lunch meals for ANY District 118 child 18 years of age or younger may be picked up between 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on weekdays at ANY of these school locations: Wauconda High School, Wauconda Grade School, Robert Crown School and Cotton Creek School and between 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the following locations (look for a District 118 school bus in the parking lot):

    • Island Lake Village Hall parking lot, 3720 Greenleaf Avenue, Island Lake, IL 60042

    • Lakemoor Village Hall parking lot, 28581 Illinois Route 120, Lakemoor, IL 60051

    • Port Barrington Village Hall parking lot, 69 South Circle Avenue, Port Barrington, IL 60010

    • Volo Village Hall parking lot, 500 South Fish Lake Road, Volo, IL 60073

  • Wednesday Night Food Pantry from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the back parking lot of Wauconda Grade School. Non-perishable food items will be available for pick-up by ANY District 118 family in need. Donations accepted at Door #13 at the back entrance of the Wauconda Grade School Gymnasium from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.


  • Concern about COVID-19 is leading to feelings of anxiety in children and adults.  Acknowledging concern without panic is appropriate, and can lead us to take actions that reduce the risk of illness and protect our social-emotional wellbeing.  It is very important to remember that children look to adults for guidance on how to react to stressful events.   • Anyone who is coming to our schools should always follow these guidelines:

    • Practice physical distancing. Do not hug, shake hands, or congregate in small groups. Be cognizant to remain 6 feet from others whenever possible.

    • Wash your hands frequently, especially after opening doors or touching surfaces.

    • Try and refrain from touching your face, especially near your mouth, nose, and eyes.

    • Cough into the corner of your elbow. If you use a tissue, place it in the trash as soon as you are done using it.

    
  • Nobody should come to our schools if they are:

    • Feeling ill.

    • Have a condition of being immunocompromised.

    • Have had direct contact with someone who has symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, and shortness of breath) or has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

  • Las solicitudes para recuperar pertenencias personales de gran importancia que se encuentran en la escuela, tal com los medicamentos de los estudiantes que estén en la oficina de la enfermera, el Chromebook que le ha sido entregado por el Distrito a los estudiantes, o un instrumento musical de banda deberán ser enviadas al Director de la escuela.

  • Miércoles Por La Tarde De Despensa De Alimentos de 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. en la parte trasera del estacionamiento de Wauconda Grade School. Articulos de alimentos no perecederos estarán disponibles para que LAS FAMILIAS DEL DISTRITO 118 que los necesiten puedan recogerlos. Se aceptan donaciones en la puerta  #13 del Gimnasio de Wauconda Grade School de 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. los Lunes, Martes y Miércoles.


  • La preocupación acerca del COVID-19 está generando sentimientos de ansiedad tanto en niños como en adultos.  El reconocer la preocupación sin llegar al pánico es apropiado, y eso puede ayudarnos a tomar acciones que reduzcan el riesgo de enfermedades y proteger nuestro bienestar socio-emocional.  Es muy importante recordar que los niños observan a los adultos en busca de orientación de cómo reaccionar a eventos estresantes.   • Todos aquellos que venga a nuestras escuelas deberá siempre seguir los siguientes lineamientos:

    • Practique el distanciamiento físico. No abrace, salude de mano o se reúnan en grupos pequeños. Esté consciente de permanecer 6 pies separados de otros siempre que sea posible.

    • Lave sus manos frecuentemente especialmente después de abrir puertas o tocar alguna superficie.

    • Trate de evitar el tocar su cara especialmente cerca de su boca, nariz y ojos.

    • Cuando tosa, hágalo dentro de su antecodo. Si utiliza un pañuelo pongalo en la basura en cuanto termine de utilizarlo.


  • Nadie deberá presentarse a nuestras escuelas en caso de que: 

    • Se sienta enfermo/a.

    • Tenga alguna condición médica o su sistema inmunológico este comprometido.

    • Haya tenido contacto directo con alguien que ha tenido síntomas de COVID-19 (fiebre, tos, y dificultad para respirar) o ha sido diagnosticado con COVID-19.
