Equity in District 118

Mission:

Wauconda Community Unit District 118 will deliberately promote district policies, community interactions, professional development, and instructional practices through the lens of equity to ensure that every student has access to the educational resources and rigor they need in their education. Students’ needs are not going unmet due to race, age, ethnicity, culture, immigration status, language, disability, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, family background, and/or family income.

Vision:

Create both formal and informal training on issues related to equity, diversity, and inclusion and build supportive, restorative environments to create a school culture that is welcoming to all. With a growth mindset, the district has high expectations and students are provided the support needed in order to become the best version of themselves.

We Value:

An inclusive environment where students feel a sense of belonging.

Collaboration and curiosity to build supportive communities.

Creating opportunities for our diverse staff, students, and families (of various cultures, backgrounds, and identities) to share, learn, interact, and develop authentic and meaningful connections with each other.
