Principal's Statement

Dear Students and Parents:

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we welcome all of you to Wauconda Grade School!

We are looking forward to a wonderful school year and hope that from visiting our website, you will get a feel for the welcoming First-Class atmosphere we enjoy daily!

WGS is one of the three elementary buildings in our district and provide programming for students from Pre-School through Grade Five.  Our schools are committed to building partnerships among students, educators, families, and the community.  As part of our District mission statement, we strive to provide a quality and enriched learning environment where students become contributing and productive members of society through a commitment to lifelong learning.

Our faculty and staff are very excited about the 2021-2022 school year!  We are fortunate to have a team of professionals who are truly committed to providing our students with the best education possible.  With a common vision and a commitment to excellence, we can capitalize on the many opportunities we have before us and maximize our effectiveness as educators in a First-Class environment.

As a Title I school, WGS receives federal funding to improve educational opportunities for our students. The funds allowed us to fund: The Academic Assistance program, purchase flexible seating, standing desks, offer Family Literacy Nights, purchase multiple year web-based subscriptions, and STEM materials, as well as a plethora of other educational tools for the classroom.

Our P.T.O. is an important component of our overall school culture and all of us clearly benefit from their commitment to WGS.  Whether it’s the Apex Run, Spirit Wear Sales, Gym, Movie, and Restaurant Nights, Book Fairs, School Assemblies, Birthday Books, etc., they provide us with volunteers, funding, and activities that serve to enrich our already solid educational foundation.  During the last few years, fundraising efforts have been focused on adding equipment to our playground.

I encourage you to join the P.T.O. and support their much-appreciated efforts.

The 2021-2022 year has the capacity to be a wonderful time for opportunity and growth.  We know that every student is utterly unique, with different learning styles, strengths, interests, and experiences.  It is truly our privilege to educate your child/children and I am confident that we are going to have a remarkable year!!

If you have any questions, concerns, ideas, suggestions, or just want to say “hi,” please do not hesitate to call me at 847-526-6671.

Cordially,

Debbie Monroe
