Welcome to the Wauconda Community School District 118 website!
Wauconda CUSD 118 serves nearly 4,000 students from preschool through 12th grade across Lake and McHenry Counties. Our schools welcome families from six local communities. These include Wauconda, Island Lake, Lake Barrington, Lakemoor, Port Barrington, Volo, and surrounding areas. Our district is known for giving students great ways to learn. Our students start their education with pride and a clear purpose.
Our schools offer high-quality classes. We provide many clubs, activities, and sports for students, especially in middle and high school. It is a truly exciting time to be a student in District 118!
We know you will find that District 118 is a close community of students, teachers, and families. Our caring staff always focuses on what is best for children. We invite you to explore this website to learn more about each of our schools.
As Co-Superintendents, we work together to guide District 118. Each of us serves half-time. We carefully coordinate our work to keep our traditions alive and help our schools succeed. The Board of Education has asked us to lead together again for the 2026-27 school year, and we are honored to serve.
Our main goals for this school year are built into this year's D118 Strategic Plan and include:
Strengthening School Culture and Trust: We are leading efforts to make our school culture stronger. We want to build deep trust between our leadership team, the School Board, and our community stakeholders.
Managing Resources and Staff Responsibilities: We are adjusting duties among our leaders and support staff. This lets us run smooth school operations and support our learning goals with a smaller team.
Balancing the Budget: We are carefully monitoring our Budget Deficit Reduction Plan. This updates our budget process to ensure District 118 stays financially stable and balanced.
Supporting the Superintendent Search: We will assist the School Board as they look for a new superintendent. We will make sure the transition is smooth and seamless when the next leader takes over.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together for our students!
Sincerely,
Dr. Brian Wegley & Dr. Todd Leden
